What we do for Mettler Toledo users
- Read out scales and terminals – reliably, even in continuous operation
- Integration with ERP, MES, LIMS, databases or an Excel replacement
- Custom user interfaces for weighing stations and loading processes
- Automatic logging, weighing tickets and reporting
- Integration of several scales – including mixed with other manufacturers
Supported devices and series
Mettler Toledo devices we regularly connect:
- IND terminals IND231/IND236, IND246, IND570, IND780, IND930 and IND360: platform scales, hopper scales, weighbridges and process scales
- ICS compact scales ICS425, ICS435, ICS445 and ICS685: counting, checkweighing and classifying in production and logistics
- Laboratory balances XPR, XSR, MS, ME and ML: weigh-ins, recipes and analysis with LIMS integration
- Weighing platforms PBA/PBK as well as weighing modules and load cells via the terminals listed above
- Checkweighers and weighbridges with Mettler Toledo electronics, in the line and outdoors
Interfaces, connection and integration
Mettler Toledo devices communicate via RS232/RS422/RS485, Ethernet TCP/IP and USB, and the terminals additionally via Profibus DP, Profinet, EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP and other fieldbuses. As the protocol we primarily use MT-SICS (Standard Interface Command Set), alongside continuous output and device-specific formats. We transfer weight, stability, tare and alibi number into LIMS, ERP, MES or a database, control zeroing and tare from the software and, where needed, meet requirements for audit trail and GMP documentation.
Frequently asked questions
Does this work without software from Mettler Toledo?
Yes. We build directly on the documented interfaces. You need no additional manufacturer software and no ongoing licence costs for it.
What about legal-for-trade applications?
That is possible too – including Alibi-memory integration and tamper-proof storage in line with verification law. We take the legal-for-trade requirements into account in the concept from the start.
We also have scales from other manufacturers – a problem?
On the contrary: that is exactly what we are here for. One software application that connects all scales uniformly is one of our most frequent projects.
Can you connect a Mettler Toledo laboratory balance to our LIMS?
Yes. Via MT-SICS we read out weight and stability, check target and tolerance values and pass the weigh-in value on with sample ID, operator and timestamp to the LIMS – GMP-compliant with an audit trail if required. Find out more on our page on LIMS integration.
Do we need Mettler Toledo drivers or a particular piece of Mettler software?
No. We address the devices directly via their documented interfaces; manufacturer-specific drivers or additional licences are generally not required. If Mettler software is already in use, we connect to its data output.
