From paper slips to a continuous weighing process
The classic routine at the weighbridge: first weighing, second weighing, write down the net weight by hand, type it up later. Every manual step costs time and produces errors. Weighbridge software maps the whole flow digitally:
- First and second weighing with automatic net calculation, stored tare weights for regular vehicles and assignment to customer, order and material.
- Digital weighing tickets with all mandatory details, printed or as PDF – our guide Digital weighing tickets shows what a clean ticket looks like.
- Legal-for-trade weighing: the software takes the Alibi number straight from the terminal – details in our guide on the Alibi memory.
Self-service: the weighbridge works without staff
A self-service terminal keeps the weighbridge available around the clock – no staffed weighbridge office needed. Drivers identify themselves with an RFID card, a code or their number plate; the software guides them through the weighing and controls the peripherals:
- Traffic light and barrier control, so only one vehicle is on the bridge at a time.
- Number plate recognition (ANPR): regular vehicles are recognised automatically and assigned to the right account.
- Camera documentation of each weighing – in a dispute, a photo of the load is worth a lot.
- Peak times without queues: during harvest or delivery peaks, every minute per vehicle counts.
Weighing data straight into your ERP
The net weight belongs in your ERP, not on a slip of paper. Our software posts weighings directly into your system – whether SAP, Dynamics 365, Sage or an industry-specific solution. Weighing tickets automatically become delivery notes, invoices and statistics: daily volumes per material, loads per customer, open second weighings. Which interfaces weighing terminals offer for this is covered in our guide Reading out a scale.
Typical places of use
Weighbridge software by Digital Trend Systems runs wherever lorries are loaded or unloaded:
- Recycling & waste management – intake, classification and records for delivered fractions.
- Gravel, sand and aggregate plants as well as concrete and asphalt mixing plants – loading with a delivery note right at the weighbridge.
- Agricultural trade and grain intake – more on our page Grain intake & silo.
- Composting sites, biogas plants, ports and logistics hubs – anywhere volumes are billed per vehicle.
For weighing away from the stationary bridge – axle load checks or changing sites – see our mobile weighing solutions.
Frequently asked questions
Which weighbridges and terminals can be connected?
We work vendor-independently: terminals by Mettler Toledo, Precia Molen, Rinstrum, Systec, Schenck Process and many others are connected via RS232, TCP/IP or OPC UA. What matters is the terminal's interface, not the brand of the weighbridge – if in doubt, we check it in a free initial consultation.
Is weighing with software legal for trade?
Yes. The legally relevant registration is done by the verified weighing terminal with its Alibi memory; the software requests the weighing, automatically takes over the weight value and the Alibi number and shows both on every weighing ticket. Every document remains traceable to the tamper-proof original.
Does the weighbridge work without a staffed office?
Yes – with a self-service terminal. Drivers identify themselves by card, code or number plate recognition; the software guides them through first and second weighing, controls traffic light and barrier and prints the ticket. Intake keeps running at night and on weekends.
What does weighbridge software cost?
It depends on the scope: a pure weighing-ticket solution, self-service with barriers and cameras, or full ERP integration. After a free initial consultation you receive a fixed-price offer – no open-ended day rates, no hidden costs.
