VPG weighing technology: software, connection and integration

Software for weighing technology from the Vishay Precision Group (VPG) – from connecting a BLH Nobel G5 transmitter on a vessel scale through to integrating VPG onboard weighing systems on lorries, wheel loaders and refuse collection vehicles into dispatch planning and invoicing. VPG brands such as BLH Nobel, Celtron, Sensortronics and Tedea-Huntleigh supply the load cells and electronics from which scale builders construct their systems. We deliver the software that turns the measured value into a process value, a data record or a delivery note.

  • Digital transducer electronics and amplifiers from VPG with a serial or bus interface

Interfaces, connection and integration

BLH Nobel transmitters provide the weight via Ethernet TCP/IP, Modbus RTU/TCP, Profibus DP, Profinet, EtherNet/IP or analogue output; onboard systems deliver weights via CAN, RS232, Bluetooth or mobile network to the terminal and cloud. We read values cyclically or event-driven, transfer them to the database, MES, control system or ERP, build batch and consumption quantities, generate delivery notes with legal-for-trade onboard weights and monitor limit values. Adjustment of the load cells remains the scale builder's responsibility; we do not alter the measuring chain.

Frequently asked questions

Can you transfer weight values from BLH Nobel G5 transmitters into our MES or ERP?

Yes. Via Modbus, Profinet or Ethernet we read weight and status from the transmitter, assign them to the order, batch or vessel and post them cyclically or as a batch total to the MES or ERP – SAP, Dynamics or a custom system.

We have VPG onboard scales on our vehicles – can they be linked to dispatch planning and invoicing?

Yes. The vehicle terminal delivers weight, timestamp and position; our software assigns them to the order and customer, generates a delivery note or weighing ticket and hands them over to dispatch planning, invoicing or the waste disposal record – online, or buffered when there is no connection.

Our silos sit on Tedea-Huntleigh or Celtron load cells – can we get stock monitoring out of them?

Yes. Via the transmitter or evaluation electronics we read the silo weight cyclically, calculate fill level and consumption, raise an alert at minimum stock and deliver the values to planning or ERP – as a dashboard or an automatic purchase requisition.

Do we need specific VPG electronics for your software?

No. What matters is a readable interface – serial, Modbus, fieldbus or analogue via a converter. We clarify which version your installation has in the initial consultation.

Are legal-for-trade applications possible with VPG onboard scales?

Yes, provided the onboard system is approved accordingly and keeps an alibi memory. We take the alibi number into the delivery note and data record so that every value remains traceable under legal metrology.
