Typical use cases
- Goods receipt: weigh delivered goods and post the actual quantity directly against the purchase order in Sage – shortfalls stand out immediately
- Shipping: capture package and pallet weights automatically on the delivery note, as the basis for freight costs and carrier notifications
- Stocktaking: count small parts with a counting scale and take the counting results into the Sage stocktake without paperwork
- Picking: weight-based completeness check before posting the withdrawal
- Recipe & filling: report weighed quantities back to Sage with order and batch reference
How the integration works
We take on the scale side completely: reading the scale via USB, RS232 or network, plausibility checks of the readings, and buffering if the network or Sage is temporarily unreachable. Whether a KERN platform scale in the warehouse or a Bizerba terminal in dispatch makes no difference. Hand-over to Sage happens via the official interfaces of the respective Sage solution or – where more sensible – via a staging database or transfer file whose format we agree with your Sage partner. Your Sage installation stays upgradeable and the hand-over route cleanly documented.
Sage environments grown over the years are no obstacle
Many Sage installations have been customised over years: custom fields, individual document types, add-on modules. Precisely for that reason we don't build an off-the-shelf solution but define in the preliminary discussion at which point of your process the weighing takes place and which document receives the weight. The scale software adapts to your Sage world – not the other way round.
Frequently asked questions
How can I connect a scale to Sage 100?
Sage 100 has no general scale support out of the box – we build the connection: our software reads your scale directly and hands the validated values over via the official Sage interfaces or an agreed staging database to documents and stocks. This works with practically any scale that has a data interface.
Does our Sage partner have to be involved in the project?
We recommend it: your Sage partner knows your customisations and approves the hand-over route, we take on the complete scale side. This division of labour has proven itself in projects and keeps your Sage installation upgradeable.
Which Sage versions are supported?
The focus is on Sage 100; other Sage products we assess case by case. Just tell us your version and your process – you'll receive an honest assessment before any quote is made.
