Which KERN scales can be connected?
Practically all models with a data interface (RS232, USB, Ethernet, some WLAN) – from analytical balances to verified platform scales. We also connect older devices using adapters.
Do I need the original KERN software?
No. We talk to the scale directly via its data protocol. That keeps you independent of the feature set and licence model of the manufacturer's software – and the solution fits your workflow exactly.
Can this be done in a verification-compliant way?
Yes. For legal-for-trade use we design the solution with an Alibi-memory reference and tamper-proof storage in line with verification law.
Can you connect a KERN laboratory balance to our LIMS or our recipe management?
Yes. Via KCP we read out the weigh-in value once the reading is stable, check the target value and tolerance and pass the value on with a sample or batch ID to the LIMS or recipe system. For simple cases, a lean capture application with Excel export is enough.
Isn't the KERN Balance Connection software sufficient?
For simply transferring values into a spreadsheet, often yes. As soon as scales are to be embedded into processes – inventory management, shop, several weighing stations, plausibility checks, batch records – you need an application that maps this logic. That is exactly what we develop.
