Back System integration

Connecting a scale to shop systems

Every mis-shipment costs twice: return, reshipment, an annoyed customer. A shipping scale at the packing bench, connected to Shopware or Shopify, catches exactly these errors – the package is weighed, the weight is checked against the order, and only then does it go out.

Typical use cases

  • Packing check: target/actual weight comparison against the order's article data – a wrong article, wrong quantity or missing insert is stopped before the label is printed
  • Shipping weight: exact package weight instead of a flat rate for carrier labels and postage billing – no back-charges due to wrong weight classes
  • Article-master maintenance: detect missing or wrong article weights at the first weighing and clean up the master data bit by bit
  • Multichannel: one packing station, several channels – orders from Shopware, Shopify and marketplaces run over the same scale
  • Returns: weigh returns on arrival and spot incomplete returns immediately

How the integration works

The scale side is entirely ours: we read your shipping scale – proven choices here include parcel scales from KERN or retail scales from Bizerba –, check every reading for stability and plausibility and buffer the weighings if the internet connection drops briefly. The data reconciliation with Shopware or Shopify runs via the official interfaces of the respective shop system; where an inventory-management or shipping software sits in between, we agree the hand-over point with its administrator. At the packing bench itself your staff see a simple interface: scan the order, package onto the platter, green or red.

What the weight check really delivers

The maths is simple: even a low single-digit mis-shipment rate eats noticeably into margin at a few hundred packages a day – postage, returns handling, replacement delivery, goodwill. The weighing check tests every single shipment in under a second, without slowing the packing rhythm. A side effect: with the logged weighings you can prove, in case of doubt, that a package left the building complete – helpful with loss and shortage claims.

Frequently asked questions

How does the weight check at the packing bench against shop data work?

Our software knows the article weights from your shop system and calculates a target weight per order including packaging. During packing, the finished package is weighed: if the actual weight is outside the tolerance, the process stops with a clear message – a wrong article, missing item or forgotten insert stands out before the package leaves the building.

Do we need a plugin from the Shopware or Shopify store?

No. The scale is read by local software at your packing station; the reconciliation with order and article data runs via the official interfaces of your shop system. Nothing is built into your shop theme or checkout – the solution works in the warehouse, not in the shop frontend.

What about incomplete article weights in the shop?

Not a deal-breaker: the check starts with the articles whose weights are maintained, and the software helps fill in missing values at the first weighing. After a few weeks the master data is usually complete.
