A&D scales: software, connection and integration

Software for A&D scales – from connecting a GX precision balance to Excel or a LIMS through to integrating HV platform scales and AD-4400 indicators into production and ERP. A&D devices (A&D Company, A&D Instruments) are found in laboratories, test bays and manufacturing plants and come with an RS-232C interface as standard. We deliver the software that turns this into an automatic data flow.

What we do for A&D users

  • Retrieve readings via software instead of noting them by hand
  • Link weigh-in and inspection processes in the lab to sample or batch numbers
  • Integrate platform scales into goods receipt, production and dispatch
  • Store weighing results in a structured way in databases, ERP or LIMS
  • Build cross-device solutions when other brands are in use alongside A&D

Supported devices and series

A&D devices we regularly connect:

  • Laboratory and precision balances GX/GF (Apollo), FX-i, FZ-i, EK-i, EJ and HR-A/HR-AZ: weigh-ins, recipes, density
  • Platform and industrial scales HV-C, HW-C and SW (waterproof) with an A&D indicator
  • Weighing indicators AD-4401, AD-4402, AD-4406 and AD-4329: dosing, filling and plant weighing with setpoint outputs
  • Counting and checkweighing scales HC-i and FC-i: piece counts and tolerance checking in order picking and production

Interfaces, connection and integration

A&D scales come with RS-232C as standard and, depending on the model, USB, Ethernet (also via the AD-8526 adapter) and Bluetooth; the indicators of the AD-44xx series additionally offer RS-485, an analogue output and fieldbus options. We read the A&D data format with its status prefix (ST, US, QT) continuously or on request, control tare and zeroing from the software and transfer values together with sample ID, order or article into LIMS, ERP, Excel or a database. Where A&D WinCT is already in use, we only replace it where process logic is needed.

Frequently asked questions

How do the readings from our A&D scale get into our software?

Depending on the model, A&D scales come with RS232, USB or Ethernet interfaces. We build an application that reads your devices directly and passes the values automatically to ERP, LIMS, a database or Excel processes – without manual retyping.

Do you support both A&D laboratory balances and platform scales?

Yes. We connect laboratory balances of the FX/FZ series, precision balances of the GX/GF series and platform scales of the HV/HW range – and can bring laboratory and industrial devices together in one shared solution.

How does such a project proceed?

You tell us the device, interface and target system. We check feasibility, propose a solution and implement it step by step – including testing on your real devices.

Can you connect A&D laboratory balances to our LIMS?

Yes. Via RS-232C or USB we read out the weigh-in value once the reading is stable and pass it on with sample ID, operator and timestamp to the LIMS – including tolerance checking and an audit trail if required.

We use an A&D AD-4402 indicator on a dosing system – can it be integrated into our control system and our ERP?

Yes. The indicator delivers weight, status and setpoint signals via RS-232C/RS-485 or fieldbus. We couple it to the PLC or control system and post consumption and batches to the ERP – without any change to the verified weighing equipment.
