Typical use cases
- Goods receipt: Weigh raw material and purchased parts, reconcile the actual quantity against the purchase order and delivery note, document discrepancies
- Manufacturing: Determine consumption and scrap quantities by weighing and assign them to the works order – for honest material costs
- Interim storage: Determine the contents of containers and mesh boxes via gross/tare calculation, keep stocks current without counting effort
- Shipping: Capture package and pallet weights for delivery documents and freight calculation automatically on the transaction
- Stocktaking: Record standard and small parts with the counting scale and take the results over directly
How the integration works
We take on the scale side completely: we read your devices – from the Bizerba weighing terminal at the ramp to the KERN counting scale at the storage bay –, check every weighing for plausibility and buffer the data during network or system interruptions. For hand-over to abas ERP we use the system's official interfaces or, if your setup suggests it, a staging database or transfer file. We define the exact route together with the abas partner or in-house IT that maintains your system – so the solution matches your level of customisation and survives upgrades.
Thought through from the document to the ramp
A scale connection is more than data transport: who weighs what, in what order, and what happens on a deviation? We answer these questions before the first line of code – for instance whether the forklift driver at the floor scale should only see a traffic light, or the warehouse manager needs a log per batch. The result is a workflow your staff can operate without a training marathon.
Frequently asked questions
Can a scale be connected to abas ERP?
Yes. We build the connection to your needs: our software reads the scale, checks and buffers the readings and hands them over via the official abas ERP interfaces or an agreed staging database to the right transaction – such as goods receipt, production confirmation or dispatch document.
Our abas is heavily customised – is that a problem?
No, with abas that is the rule rather than the exception. We define the hand-over points together with the abas consultant who knows your customisations; we deliver the complete scale side. That way the weighing fits into your individual screens and workflows instead of running alongside them.
How long does such a project take?
A single weighing station with a clear process is often productive within a few weeks; multi-stage scenarios across goods receipt, manufacturing and dispatch we plan in stages. After the free initial consultation you'll receive a fixed-price quote with a timeline.
